AdAway who? Not sure if there is a non root version for Android. I use the Magisk Module to stay "Energized". Wow, it is hands down, easily by a long shot the best adblocker for a rooted android.

The most obvious thing you can do is to use a custom filter. There are several great filterlists out there but I know most of them are just not enough for some of you degenerates out there who have went a bit too deep in the spicy rabbit hole. One of the best filterlists you can use is by the Energized Protection. Here's the direct link to Energized Porn filter in adblock format. Just copy and paste this in Filter... Same concept, but I personally like to use this Https://energized.pro/. Source: over 1 year ago

Use uBlock Origin instead of uBlock. Why? Because it is the real shit. They do it because they block EDNS0 in order to protect your privacy or something like that. So I use 8.8.8.8 and 9.9.9.9 in... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
9.9.9.9 is run by Quad9. They’re more privacy oriented, afaik. Source: 10 months ago
Ask your university support desk? You can also try alternative DNSsuch as https://quad9.net . Source: 11 months ago
Yeah I don't trust ISP DNS, they can see your traffic and dns requests. Using a more privacy dns server like Cloudflare https://1.1.1.1/ or Quad9 https://quad9.net/ are good and free. Source: 11 months ago
