Hi! There is no way to filter emails from your contact list on Gmail. i.e., if A, B, & C are in your contact list and X, Y, or Z are not, you have no way to tell Gmail, do something for any email that comes from X, Y, Z, or specifically to A, B, C
Emailgurus does that for you: It catches emails from outsiders and labels them as outsiders. You can choose the option to hide them from your inbox and archive them to check them later from the Outsiders label. Or just label them and keep them in your inbox until you feel comfortable that you're not going to miss important ones.
You have up to 50% fewer emails in your inbox; all the marketing, cold, and unsolicited emails get caught and await your verdict when you decide to deal with them.
Bonus Point: Emailgurus is open source for transparency of data policy

Hi, Emailgurus is a subscription-based Gmail service that catches emails from unknown senders and labels them as outsiders. Users can either place those emails in a different folder or just label them and they stay on the inbox. Source: almost 2 years ago
Hi, I built this tool that catches emails from unknown senders (Like salespeople) and labels them. You can then either auto-archive them or just label them as outsiders. This is something I couldn't do on Gmail, so I built this tool Site: https://emailgurus.xyz GitHub: https://github.com/asennoussi/emailgurus. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago

Thought I would drop this here for those looking to unsubscribe. Doesn't work 100% but has helped me clean a lot out. https://unroll.me/. Source: almost 2 years ago
Hey. I hope you get access to it soon. I'm developing a plugin similar to unroll.me - it will help you to unsubscribe from those unwanted pesky emails automatically. To be honest, I'm developing this for myself, I'm not sure if I would even release it publicly since most people are not comfortable sharing email access with 3rd parties (and rightfully so). Most of these are just newsletters and typical spam. They have your email to send you this stuff from when you made your old accounts. You can unsubscribe from each service manually (usually a small "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of each email). Or try this tool to unsubscribe from most of them quickly. Source: almost 2 years ago
Another vote for unroll.me. Only way I'm able to handle my email. Source: about 2 years ago
