If I come across an arbitrary element I want to ignore/skip, I don't Bother looking at the tags. Instead I count element depth until I'm back At the original depth. Are you looking to post content automatically to social media? If so you can try Jetpack, though the only one it doesn't post to is twitter. Cause Twitter cuts off their api.
