Not directly what you want, but I’m the developer of DungeonFog, a TTRPG map editor. We have a ton of Fantasy maps in our public gallery, created by our users. You can easily copy them into your account, optionally adjust them and then export them as an image. Most don’t have any markings, but if they do you can simply remove them before exporting. I have a few recommendations based on your concerns. Find a VTT that fits your playstyle. Let the players keep their own character sheets. Have everyone roll real dice. Only use a VTT for sharing maps and placing tokens. owlbear.rodeo or astraltabletop.com have clean, simple interfaces. Astral Tabletop https://astraltabletop.com currently has my attention. A free account is somewhat limited, and I can imagine you may need to only have uploaded whatever assets you need for the next session due to space limitations, but it's easier to use and way more pretty than anything else I've tried.
