Absolutely love mine. Excellent sound quality unmatched by any other headphones that I've used below, at, and even slightly above their price range -- and by "unmatched," I mean it isn't even close. Well, the founders of Sibelius started another music notation software called Dorico[1]. Is Dorico's UI more consistent? Does it address many of the issues of this video's criticism? Or put another way, does being a green-field software project allow the freedom to create a sane UI? As far as the basics of notation and sequencing, there aren't many 'simple' ones left, but if your focus is notation then RoseGarden is a classic. The SQ-2 has a built-in sequencer that might be easier to use than software. Source: about 1 year ago
Rosegarden is free open source software and there is a Windows version. I can confirm that it records velocity and the information is preserved when exported to MIDI for import into Ableton Live. Source: about 2 years ago
It's probably overkill but I've used Rosegarden for this - open the SMF0 MIDI file in that, then export as MIDI and it'll be SMF1. Source: about 2 years ago
Rosegarden can export to LilyPond or PDF (converted from LilyPond export). It's also pretty good, but harder to learn than MuseScore. Source: almost 3 years ago
