  • Warm Welcome to Linux
The common sense I advocate mainly revolves around DistroWatch. High ranking distributions (indicated by the hits per day chart) are generally more favorable for many reasons; stability, support, user-friendliness, friendliness of other users and so on. Over the past few years, I have usually recommended the three major M named distros; Mint, Manjaro, and MX. They have had high favorability over the past decade. A... - Source: dev.to / 4 days ago
  • Linux Distros: Ubuntu and Manjaro Fall Further into Oblivion – February 2024
The broken headline (should say Linux Gaming Distros) reminded me of DistroWatch's value to the community, aside from its unusual ranking system: https://distrowatch.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Ventoy, Live USB multitool for you ISOs Collector
Ventoy is an open source tool to create bootable USB drive for ISO/WIM/IMG/VHD(x)/EFI files. With ventoy, you don't need to format the disk over and over, you just need to copy the image files to the USB drive and boot it You can copy many image files at a time and ventoy will give you a boot menu to select them. • I have a lot of questions about Linux as an exclusively windows user.
Distrowatch.com is a great way to learn about each distro (or at least the big ones) and get all the details about what is in them. Source: 6 months ago
  • How install Plasma KDE in new Kali 2023.4
I wonder why do people keep mentioning about Kali Linux. And I hear almost nobody talk about PCLinuxOS (distrowatch.com top 21) or about OpenMandriva or about Mageia (distrowatch.com top 17). Source: 6 months ago

  • Why don't we use Freshcode more?
Those of us who are older remember freshmeat.net, the old go-to place to submit or look for open source projects. It was later renamed to Freecode, and stopped taking submissions in 2014. I was just thinking how I missed it and wondered if I should create a new site like that. But I've found out somebody else already has! https://freshcode.club/ is a sort of reboot of the old Freshmeat/Freecode site. Source: over 2 years ago
