  • Loading contacts into Salesforce
Love https://dataloader.io/ Free for up to 10k records a month! Source: 10 months ago
  • Spring '23 has got to be the most issue-plagued release I've ever seen in my near-decade working with Salesforce
I still can't believe what horse shit Data Loader is. They even own a much better product with dataloader.io but won't make it free even though data movement is integral to a useful database. Source: about 1 year ago
  • A tool to back up a SalesForce instance for migration?
Check to make sure you're actually on the once a month limit. Our org we can do weekly data exports. You can also export your objects by reports, dataloader.io (with limits), and some other tools. Depending on the data's final destination, it may be worth keeping some Salesforce licenses and seeing if you can transfer/sync data via APIs or middleware tools rather than do it manually. Talk to the vendor of whatever... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Importing Data using custom logic
Does either dataloader.io or data import wizard allow for custom logic? I'm matching the contact by full name and crd#. The logic I want to introduce is where contact's field: "platform" = envestnet. Or should I be thinking about creating a flow that will handle the logic to match the contacts from my spreadsheet? • Data loader to update records without using record ID?
I think dataloader.io and def dataimporter.io offer name match. Up to 10k (or 20k for the latter) records/mo free. Source: over 1 year ago

  • 3 Proven Patterns for Reporting with Serverless
The second big drawback is speed. There will be more latency in this scenario. How much latency depends upon the environment. If there is RDBMS in the source, AWS Data Migration Service will at worst take around 60 seconds to replicate. That cost needs to be accounted for. Secondarily, many triggering events are leveraged which happen fairly quickly but they do add up. - Source: dev.to / 20 days ago
  • RDS Database Migration Series - A horror story of using AWS DMS with a happy ending
Amazon Database Migration Service might initially seem like a perfect tool for a smooth and straightforward migration to RDS. However, our overall experience using it turned out to be closer to an open beta product rather than a production-ready tool for dealing with a critical asset of any company, which is its data. Nevertheless, with the extra adjustments, we made it work for almost all our needs. - Source: dev.to / about 1 month ago
  • Aurora serverless v1 to v2 upgrade pointers?
Does AWS DMS make sense here? Doesn't the aforementioned "snapshot+restore to provisioned and upgrade" method suffice? I wanted to get some opinions before deep diving into the docs for yet another AWS service. Source: 9 months ago
  • Using Amazon RDS Postgres as a read replica from an external Database
One easy solution is AWS DMS. I use it for on-going CDC replication with custom transforms, but you can use it for simple replication too. Source: 12 months ago
  • Ask HN: How do you do slow migration with zero downtime?
Https://aws.amazon.com/dms/ Azure Database Migration Service. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
