We're commonly doing this with logging, using services such as Loggly or DataDog. We're using managed databases, be it on AWS, Heroku or database-vendor-specific solutions. I was a nagios with nconf (long time not supported) die hard, however, I have recently switched to https://openitcockpit.io/ which has a great configuration web interface, it supports nagios plugins.
