We're commonly doing this with logging, using services such as Loggly or DataDog. We're using managed databases, be it on AWS, Heroku or database-vendor-specific solutions. I recently had a lot of trouble accessing hulu on my laptop - I would be signed in and I could access my account settings, but hulu would automatically redirect to hulu.com/welcome.
