We're commonly doing this with logging, using services such as Loggly or DataDog. We're using managed databases, be it on AWS, Heroku or database-vendor-specific solutions. I've been looking around for a selfhosted tool where you can add domains on monitor. When the domain get available it should notify me by mail or something so I can buy it myself or for a client.
