  • Introduction to Loro's Rich Text CRDT
Darcs [0] patch theory was a predecessor to OTs/CRDTs (and a predecessor to git as well; in some ways it is the "smart" to which git was named "dumb"). When it works and performs well it is still sometimes version control magic. Pijul [1] is an interesting experiment to watch, trying to keep the patch theory flag flying and also trying to bring in updates from OTs and CRDTs as it can. • Ask HN: Can we do better than Git for version control?
Perforce. As for DVCS, the best one I've used is Darcs: https://darcs.net/ There are some sticky wickets (specifically, exponential-time conflict resolution) that hindered its adoption. Thankfully, there's Pijul, which is like Darcs but a) solves that problem; and b) is written in Rust! The perfect DVCS, probably! https://pijul.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • Is it time to look past Git?
Well technically one alternative I am going to bring up predates Git by several years, and that's DARCS. Fans of DARCS have written plenty of material on Git's perceived weaknesses. While DARCS' Haskell codebase apparently had some issues, its underlying "change" semantics have remained influential. For example, Pijul is a Rust-based contender currently in beta. It embraces a huge number of the paradigms,... - Source: dev.to / about 2 years ago
  • Quite excited by [Pijul beta] tbh. Git feels like the "C of version control" - ubiquitous, reliable, but old and not very user friendly. I'm hoping we'll get the "Rust of version control" soon enough! :D
We already have the "haskell of version control", darcs, i.e. Nobody uses it. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Managing printers in a AD Domain without Papercut - Best practices
We just started using a system called directprint.io. I find it's integrations 10X better than papercut. It is easier to manage and doesn't require a print server. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Is pure cloud printing a thing?
We're testing directprint.io it seems pretty good. I'll have to look at Unflow. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Universal Print - How Can I Remove a Deployed Printer?
I'm also now looking at directprint.io and Printer Logic. Source: over 1 year ago
  • If you had to pick one of the two for a 1:1 Chromebook environment with some classroom and office PCs, which would you pick? I’ve already ruled out PaperCut and Printerlogic.
So far, I've demoed both directprint.io and Printix. I like the directprint.io interface and management options much better so far. I watched a demo video on setting up Printix and have a live demo with directprint.io this week. Their support has been great so far. Even as a demo user, I e-mailed them with a question, and they got back to me within a few hours. They're based in the UK so it's a 5 hour time... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Printerlogic for print management
We currently have PaperCut, but I'd like to move away from on-prem printer management as well as print servers. I'm currently considering directprint.io which supports Windows, Mac and Chrome through Google authentication and is recommended/resold by Amplified IT since we're 1:1 Chromebook.
