>For me the biggest gap in programming languages is a rust like language with a garbage collector, instead of a borrow checker. I cannot agree more that's the much needed sweet spot/Goldilock/etc. Personally I have been advocating this approach for some times. Apparently the language is already widely available and currently has stable and wide compiler support including the venerable GNU compiler suite (GDC). It... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
Those languages are definitely with us, https://dlang.org/ https://www.embarcadero.com/products/delphi https://www.mikroe.com/mikropascal-arm https://www.eiffel.com/ https://www.ptc.com/en/products/developer-tools/objectada. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
Show examples on the main web page. Try and find an AngelScript example. It's stupidly hard. Compare it to these web sites: https://dlang.org/ https://koka-lang.github.io/koka/doc/index.html https://vale.dev/ http://mu-script.org/ https://go.dev/ https://www.hylo-lang.org/ Sadly Rust fails this too but at least the Playground is only one click away. And Rust is mainstream anyway so it doesn't matter as much. I... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

I have a new windows 10 and downloaded the Coursier installer from scala-lang.org, the https://docs.scala-lang.org/getting-started/index.html says that you should have either java8 or java11 installed but most tutorials online and posts says to install latest version of java, which java jdk version should I install or does Coursier install it for me or do I choose the latest jdk (java-jdk-19)? Try manually installing sbt without coursier. The instructions are on https://scala-lang.org. Source: over 2 years ago
I had met the core developers, we had discussing a lot about which technology would better address our demand and, after many considerations, we had chosen Scala. - Source: dev.to / about 3 years ago
I like scala. It combines object-oriented and functional programming into one high-level language, which makes it fun to learn. I don't know if it is popular in the robotics industry, but it runs on the jvm and can be combined with java, so there is that. I recommend the book "programming scala". Source: over 3 years ago
Scala with the Typelevel ecosystem. Stay on the jVM, but have a much more pleasant and robust experience, including a great REPL. Source: about 4 years ago
