Coinbase Prime Reviews

  1. This site is a plug for Kraken, Misunderstands Prime

The lowest trading volume tier is $1M-$20M a month -- totally different league. Also the fees start at .18% for takers and .08% for makers, quickly going down to near zero for institutions with large AUMs. Prime routes orders dynamically for optimal execution, including fees, so the largely made up notion that Coinbase is not competitive on fees is once again so far off, the reality is the opposite this time: prime is a highly competitive product for an important investor class from a trusted company in a space most institutional investors find confusing and perceive as somewhat dodgy. Are there other firms out there with the crypto nous and, crucially, the size to offer comparable products? This page about Kraken sounds great for individual/retail investors, though Coinbase Pro is competitive (but Coinbase isn't), but Prime should not be reviewed here. There's no comparing those kinds of trading services with those provided for retail clients.

  • Should I put $1M in USDC?
I see there's a lot of competition in the area, is there a comprehensive list with comparisons somewhere? Google searches suggest https://cryptoradar.co. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Want to buy $5000USD of Bitcoin. What's the easiest way?
In terms of comparing rates - coin gecko works pretty well. Apps like cryptoradar and cryptolens can be useful for helping break down the rates associated with each exchange aswell (a exchange might have a good rate, but charger a marker taker fee in the end). Source: about 3 years ago

Coinbase Prime mentions (4)

  • Crypto Whale Moves $321,000,000 in Bitcoin in Single Transaction
You use what's called a Prime Broker and execute an OTC (Over The Counter) trade. Coinbase has one: https://primebroker.coinbase.com/. Source: about 3 years ago
  • I have some bitcoin that I don't intend on touching for a long time. What is the best way to ensure that I will be able to access them in 10+ years?
Exchanges have their limits , coinbase does offer https://primebroker.coinbase.com/ for large amounts though. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Coinbase has license to trade securities?
I THINK their securities license covers their institutional services. Coinbase Prime. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Withdrawing a large amount of fiat from an exchange
I could be wrong though - it's worth looking into. But coinbase, who report to HMRC anyway, have an OTC - https://primebroker.coinbase.com/ - so it's not like "all OTCs are dodgy" at least. Source: about 3 years ago
