    I think the syntax is john --wordlist=, but I sometimes get that error and don't know why, you can try crackstation.net or hashcat. I forgot, but I think one time I got the error on one vm and tried on another kali vm and it worked.. IDK., but yeah if john doesn't work use another option like crackstation.net.
