  • Hi! Im a relatively new artist on instagram and ive had a few people ask me for commissions. I have no idea where to start, can anyone help?
Be very careful, scammers tend to target newer accounts. Talk to them as much as possible and ask a lot of questions up front. Don't do any work until you've been paid at least partially. You can set up and direct them to a commissio (a platform that is very secure and protects both artists and clients). Source: about 1 year ago
  • A website dedicated to commissions. Does it exist, and if not, is that something you’d like to see?
Just to add to this, from the perspective of an artist working on building their own brand/fanbase: I feel like listing myself on some of these sites would be antithetical to my goals. I simply don't want to be another drop in the ocean. I want clients to want a piece from me because they associate quality and a one-of-a-kind style with my brand, so I could charge a premium. Listing myself on commiss.io would do... Source: over 1 year ago
  • A website dedicated to commissions. Does it exist, and if not, is that something you’d like to see?
Commiss.io (charges 5% or pay subscription for 0%)-> Was decent as a marketplace and for artists to manage their commissions, but the founding team has kind of fallen apart so there's only one staff member left who seems to be overwhelmed in running the site and goes months without responding to the community or dealing with support requests (including artists not completing work, people can't give refunds without... • What Does Your Ideal Art Space for Commissions Look Like?
Commiss.io though... yeah, that actually looks like direct competition for what I have in mind. The layout I'm envisioning is a little more professional, a lot more searchable, and less like a profile page, but there's enough overlap that I can see this not working out. • how to earn as a teenager in Lucknow?
I earned at 16-18, learn a skill and become fairly good at it. And make an account on Fiverr. upwork. freelancer.com, etc. Design, code, or anything which can be offered digitally. If you get an order on any of them double down on it. Cold reach-out works, but you've to show something to them as a portfolio. Instagram is a good place, as I did. Source: 10 months ago
  • How does a very large youtube channel with many people working for it financially function?
If my subscribers and views were multiplied by 100, it would have become a part-time job. I would be declaring income on my tax form, and keeping track of expenses. I might be considering hiring part-time editors on freelancer.com, but since they'd be independent contractors, they'd be just an expense to me. They'd be responsible for their own taxes. • What are your problems in regard of freelancer.com?
I worked on freelancer.com for 3 months doing mostly side gigs. WIth the payment, it wasn't much of an issue for me. The first payment indeed, it was more "special", as in, it took 2 months until I got the money in my account. But any other payment after that, were processed within days (at worst). I had some other issues (due to the country I'm working from), like my VISA card not being accepted so I had to do... Source: 10 months ago
  • What are your problems in regard of freelancer.com?
I once posted on reddit my thoughts on freelancer.com and I assume, that it does not have a high reputation among other redditors. Someone who hired freelancers on that very site said, that clearing a payment is very difficult on that site, which I could understand. So do you have also faced other problems on that side? I am also waiting for payment since two weeks. Other than that, I think that the layout looks... Source: 10 months ago
