Personally, I like codingame.com (completely free unless you are an employer) - Their simple puzzles are great places to get an idea of how programming works and the kinds of problems they solve. I think the first puzzle I was able to solve as a beginner in a few days. Source: about 1 year ago

Scratch is coding for kids. tynker.com is scratch but with an actual curriculum and it's paid. I'm looking to make an open source project that will be tynker but completely free, to encourage coding among kids.
