I cheat with my site. I write the site in markdown in an html file. I then include the link for Markdeep (https://casual-effects.com/markdeep/) Page goes to user, markdeep does all the processing and I'm good to go. Ever since WordPerfect I've preferred more deterministic, lightly-formatted documents with some way to see formatting characters directly.
