  • I have an interview on Friday that lists VMware as a 'plus' to know, but I don't. Any resources to cram from now until Friday?
Eh, a week to crash course vSphere with unknown "plus to know"? You can learn ESXi + vCenter(vSphere) in a couple days, but you wont still "know it", just have exposure to it. I would start by pulling up ESXi and vCenter deployment videos and downloading the trials from vmware.com and star there. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Upgraded 6.7 to 7.0 and have a small issue with update manager
I used the Feb 23 Dell vendor ISO from vmware.com and the upgrade went fine as expect. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Advice/opinion wanted about vSphere Cloud Foundation vs. existing VMware environment
Yes, I see it consists of the same products, but they are managed by that SDDC appliance. I just found a "VCF FAQ" at vmware.com, which answers some questions:. Source: about 1 year ago
  • For those of you with rack and cabinets, let’s see your cable management! Cable arm for my R720 won’t fit in my cabinet so I’m looking for ideas that won’t snag cables when I pull servers out. Interested to see how everyone does it.
Oh, you can try ESXi as a VM under Fusion, assuming an Intel-based Mac. Just register at vmware.com and download the beast. If you're curious. (There's also and ARM-based version of ESXi but, eh.) Of course "corporate" ESXi really becomes itself when you run it with all the complementary stuff and manage it using vCenter Server. • Can I call myself a gamer now?!
I used a Virtual Machine from vmware.com which worked. Source: about 1 year ago

  • VMware Kills Off 56 Products
Proxmox [1] will see a boost in popularity, good. I'm using the free version in combination with the backup server on both small (several RasPi 4's spread over several countres running the 'PiMox' [2] port) as well as medium (DL380) sized systems and find it to be a stable as well as practical platform. • Deadbolt & QVPN (OpenVPN)
Have a look at Proxmox if you decide on running containers and have any old hardware laying around. Source: about 1 year ago
  • A little help with table structure?
Hey everyone! I'm making a server management panel with Laravel using Proxmox (https://proxmox.com/en/) as the API for directly managing the virtual machines. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Home ESXI server maybe?
Proxmox or XCP-NG might be better if you're going to be using consumer level parts. XCP-NG is pretty much CentOS7 with the Xen hypervisor so it has a pretty broad range of device drivers. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Dual OS booting
Okay, yes, that is possible. There quite a few youtube videos showing the basic principle, most of them use the OS Proxmox as the hypervisor (and storage manager). Here's an example of a video with a very large system, but this can be scaled down a lot. Source: almost 3 years ago
