  • I have an interview on Friday that lists VMware as a 'plus' to know, but I don't. Any resources to cram from now until Friday?
Eh, a week to crash course vSphere with unknown "plus to know"? You can learn ESXi + vCenter(vSphere) in a couple days, but you wont still "know it", just have exposure to it. I would start by pulling up ESXi and vCenter deployment videos and downloading the trials from vmware.com and star there. Source: 12 months ago
  • Upgraded 6.7 to 7.0 and have a small issue with update manager
I used the Feb 23 Dell vendor ISO from vmware.com and the upgrade went fine as expect. Source: 12 months ago
  • Advice/opinion wanted about vSphere Cloud Foundation vs. existing VMware environment
Yes, I see it consists of the same products, but they are managed by that SDDC appliance. I just found a "VCF FAQ" at vmware.com, which answers some questions:. Source: 12 months ago
  • For those of you with rack and cabinets, let’s see your cable management! Cable arm for my R720 won’t fit in my cabinet so I’m looking for ideas that won’t snag cables when I pull servers out. Interested to see how everyone does it.
Oh, you can try ESXi as a VM under Fusion, assuming an Intel-based Mac. Just register at vmware.com and download the beast. If you're curious. (There's also and ARM-based version of ESXi but, eh.) Of course "corporate" ESXi really becomes itself when you run it with all the complementary stuff and manage it using vCenter Server. • Can I call myself a gamer now?!
I used a Virtual Machine from vmware.com which worked. Source: about 1 year ago
  • License Key Issue
If you have a valid key from vmware.com, you should have access to customerconnect.vmware.com for the key. If you copy and paste the key and it doesn't work you need to push them back. You should 30 days of email support so if they aren't helping push to escalate the case. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Correct way to rename server
I've followed the info from the vmware.com kb and cannot get it to work. We originally setup a machine with a hostname and DNS entry, however, we needed to rename it. Source: about 1 year ago
  • vcenter 7.0.3, remediation, check compliance.. everything takes FOREVER!!
These are hp hosts and we are using the hpe image downloaded from vmware.com. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Dynamic DNS suggestions
Just go to vmware.com and download the windows or linux workstation player. It's free for non-commercial use. Grab a 32 bit OS and install it when you create the vm from a mounted iso. I used xp due to the small footprint, but you could use 7, 8 or 10 32 bit. Source: over 1 year ago
  • vmware.com / customer connect down?
Getting inconsistent 'maintenance' and 'page not found' pages while trying to access various parts of vmware.com. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Can't Get existing Win 7 VM to Run on Player 15 or 16 on new Ubuntu Box
I just built a new Ubuntu 20.04 box on the same hardware (ThinkServer TS140). I loaded the VMPlayer 16 (latest available on vmware.com). That installed fine but when I went to run the Windows 7 VM it wouldn't connect to my bridged network and actually caused the hardware NIC on the TS140 to fail, so the host machine had no connectivity. Odd. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Were did the exam blueprints go?
Previously the exam description/blueprint was linked to on every "exam" page on vmware.com. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore as I can't for the life of me find the exam blueprint for 2V0-71.21 or 5V0-23.20. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Billing rights on AWS Organizations
Perhaps a 3th party tool like Vmware Cloudhealth could also be a solution for you. Source: about 2 years ago
  • vSphere license "cannot be assigned to the chosen asset"
I have been using the ESXi free version for many years now. My company let me use an enterprise plus license as we move our location from a standalone location to our enterprise - so score for me! I downloaded VCSA straight from vmware.com and selected the Enterprise Plus download, but when I go to assign the license it constantly gives me the error:. Source: about 2 years ago
  • VCF 4.4 Released
Note that the vRealize Suite product downloads will be also done by vRSLCM now so it will require access to the internet and a valid vmware.com account. Source: about 2 years ago
  • How to get started in virtualization? Is it possible to learn VMWare ESXi if I only have a laptop?
The best way to learn may be to use their virtual lab that's hosted on the web at vmware.com. Source: over 2 years ago
  • url without www is not resolved
And (or but) I have overlooked that "vmware.com" is on a subscribed blocking list (firebog), didnt feel the need to check because: hey, who blocks vmware.com... Shame on me! Source: over 2 years ago
  • Cannot register for ESXi Free/trial as an Individual?
Clear your browser cache and cookies for the vmware.com domain and try again. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • pfsense tale of woe and redemption
Easy, either get the 60 day evaluation license or buy the full license from vmware.com and deploy as a vm. Source: about 3 years ago
  • VMware website errors
Does anyone else have issues accessing the docs on vmware.com? Nearly all of the pages return errors such as 400. Many links within the accessible docs also return errors. Many pages are accessible through Google's cache, so there's something to fall back on, but again most of the links return errors. Source: about 3 years ago
