I live and swear by Citymapper[0] for all cities that it supports. No other app I've used has been as good for public transport as Citymapper has been. I really hope one day one of these city transport organisations either buy it out, push for it, or license their tech. [0] https://citymapper.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 10 days ago
I’ve had an easy time getting around in Sydney by public transport using Citymapper. Source: 10 months ago
We do! Citymapper often will tell you what door to get on for the best exit, depending on whether there's data available for that journey. Source: 10 months ago
Citymapper does this really well. It also tells you where to sit on the train to be nearest the most convenient exit at your stop. Source: 12 months ago
But by way of encouragement maybe, the area near my office—off Irving Blvd and Medical District Dr—is not pedestrian friendly by any stretch. Google Maps will give you worthless, even dangerous bike routes. Citymapper is a bit better, but really what I found paid off was spending some time studying maps, aerial and street-level imagery, then a weekend morning doing some testing and exploration. I got into Geotastic (which itself is inspired by GeoGuessr) a while ago and really love it. If you never heard about the game: You get thrown to somewhere in the world in Google street view and have to guess pick your location on a world map. Source: almost 2 years ago
I switched to Geotastic, which is free and crowdfunded and never looked back, it's constantly getting updated with new modes and features and feels exactly like the Geoguessr I used to play. Source: about 2 years ago
You can play it for free at Geotastic it's basically the same but crowdfundet instead of a monthly fee. Source: over 2 years ago
If you’re still interested this is a free and imo very nice alternative https://geotastic.de/home. Source: over 2 years ago
