I think some of your pain might be alleviated with the PVS Tech Preview that’s going on. It’s specifically PVS in Azure. I know that’s full Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Service (CVADS) vs CVADS Standard in Azure but it’s something to look into. I use wakeonlan for all of my machines, and configure Guacamole to push the WOL packet, delay 30-300 seconds (depending on machine) and then give me a terminal session to the server. Source: 6 months ago
