I think some of your pain might be alleviated with the PVS Tech Preview that’s going on. It’s specifically PVS in Azure. I know that’s full Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Service (CVADS) vs CVADS Standard in Azure but it’s something to look into. Sorry for the possibly dumb questions. But then does .NET 5 have a "Model View Controller" workflow? I'm seeing ASP.NET still exists. But it's just "ASP.NET", no "MVC" or "Core" attached to the end.
