Tvheadend might be a bit more popular than Chromecast with Google TV. We know about 15 links to it since March 2021 and only 15 links to Chromecast with Google TV. There's a Google product called "Chromecast with Google TV". It's a chromecast that comes with "Google TV" and lets you install android apps on it. Source: 11 months ago
So maybe I'm missing something entirely obvious here, but isn't "Chromecast with google TV"[0] exactly the product everyone here seems to be lamenting not existing? I've got two at home and they are great. It's a solid tv experience based on android, with probably the best remote I've ever used -- though I wish the remote wouldn't be so dang slippery. If your TV has a good picture I would suggest against replacing it. Smart TVs are typically less functional than a dumb TV with an android stick, or ruko or whatever. Here is a link to what I use: https://store.google.com/us/product/chromecast_google_tv Even if your TV is not 4K, I suggest dropping the extra 10 dollars to future proof your investment. There is not support for casting from the mobile app to a Chromecast anymore, but on a Chromecast with Google TV you can install the Android TV app. Source: about 2 years ago
I posted this yesterday on the tvheadend.org board, but it's silent so far. I thought I'd try here:. Source: 11 months ago
Fwiw, Xbox One Digital TV Tuners and some RTL-SDRs (with an extra decoder chip) are able to pick up DVB-T2 and are usually £10~20 on eBay. https://tvheadend.org/ can be useful for interfacing with the tuners over USB and exposing web streams. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
If your USB tuner works with Linux, you can use it with TVHeadend, and connect it to Jellyfin via the official plugin. I use it here and it works fairly well. Source: over 1 year ago
They're expensive for what they are, though. If you're techy minded you can make your own using something like a Raspberry Pi, some USB TV tuners and TVHeadend. Source: over 1 year ago
