  • Reminder: Find some efficient and experienced charities to regularly give to
Someone just invited me to give to a charity, so I thought I'd share the reminder to you, fellow rich non-tithing-payers, haha. https://charitywatch.org appears to be very thorough, sincere, and experienced since 1992. Source: over 1 year ago

It isn't baseless. Go look them up on charitywatch.org. You my friend are the one being lazy. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • "homeless and need money" signs with kids alongside.
Just keep in mind that many charitable groups are not that well-run, or even scammy themselves. There are good resources at places like givewell.org, and charitywatch.org, to get ratings on how effectively various charities use the money they raise. Source: about 2 years ago
  • TIL that in addition to Red Cross organizations, there are also Red Crescent and Red Crystal organizations, with the symbols localized for acceptance by the community of each nation that has such an organization. In the past there was also a Red Lion and Sun (Iran).
That isn't true. You need to learn how to do accurate research in terms of non-profits. You can look all of this information up on charitynavigator.org or charitywatch.org. You should absolutely know how your donations are being used and be confident in your donations, but you should not get your information from internet memes and then continue to spread blatantly inaccurate information. Some people might feel that is excessive and that people should run massive non-profits out of the goodness of their hearts, but I personally see no issue with using a high salary to attract the best person for the job. • Opinion: YOU have a moral obligation to donate towards ending animal exploitation. Hear me out.
Unfortunately, with many organizations other than Veganuary it is very difficult to estimate the amount of animals saved per €/$ donated to them. Fortunately, there are organizations such as Animal Charity Evaluators that try to rank organizations based on how effective they are in saving animals. They also have a recommended charity fund that will split your donation between the highest rated charities. I... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Is Humane Society International (HSI) a good charity?
Animal Charity Evaluators evaluates charities that are helping animals and recommends ones they think will help the most animals for each additional dollar donated. They did an AMA on /r/vegan a while back. If you just want to help as many animals as possible (which is fantastic) then it's easy to just donate to the one they recommend. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Something big needs to change
Check out ACE. They rate the most effective groups in animal advocacy. Find one that aligns with your goals specifically, then get involved with that group. This will allow your efforts to build on work that others have done, therefore increasing your impact. Https://animalcharityevaluators.org/. Source: about 1 year ago
