I have two layers of filtering. Layer 1 is the "Subscription" layer like you mention. I also have a Layer 2 which is not all episodes of a Podcast are meaningful for me. Therefore, I don't listen to ALL episodes. A Podcast app like Castro is extremely beneficial in making an active decision to add a podcast to my queue [0]. If you're only ever going to listen on PC, and you use Chrome (or a Chrome-variant) as your browser, you may want to take a look at the podStation Podcast Player extension. It lets you subscribe to and play podcasts right in your browser and it syncs with your Google account. It's simple, but does just what it needs to do. Source: about 2 years ago
