I'm currently playing torn.com which has a global leaderboard system that tracks various stats, tho my favorite is the total Net Worth category. I looked at some other text based browser games but most of them only have the top 100 leaderboards, which are a bit irrelevant since I would never be in them. Source: 8 months ago

According to torn.com's documentation, there is limit of 100 req per minute. If you request data in the manner you describe... That can easily blow past the limit and may result in temp IP ban. Source: almost 3 years ago
