  • Hades is the best-designed roguelike I've ever played
    To start, I would recommend Brogue or The Ground Gives Way. Both are very simplified and have an accessible, modern approach. Tales of Maj'Eyal, while more complex, also a more modern game feel to it that might be appealing. There are two main types of roguelike gameplay: dungeon delvers, and expansive open worlds.     Personally, I very much recommend Brogue (its subreddit). It's a difficult game, but it is free and will certainly scratch that problemsolve-itch. Say, you are on a stroll alongside a cliff, and you come across a nasty group of spearwielding goblins, backed up by priests that cover them in magical shields?
