In addition to what other people are saying re: comedians and practicing, I've also found regularly doing a few rounds of Dual N-Back (or anything else that has me juggle multiple memories while working with logic, like leetcode or logic puzzles) almost magically bumps me up a tier on the banter-o-meter too. For me I've made it part of my morning routine, and it help me sort of kickstart my brain, reducing the number of days I'm getting absolutely nothing done as a thanks to executive disfunction.
