  • Does anyone have any tools for tracking down hard to find books?
My first stop is always bookfinder. Doesn't cross-reference every site but it does a good chunk of them. Source: 11 months ago
  • Ideas for a 7 day celebration for my S.O.'s birthday?
If an era (say civil war) go to http://bookfinder.com. Now on the front page click Advanced Search. You can select year of publication. So for civil war I would plug in up to 1900. Source: 11 months ago
  • Where do you find out what a book you’re repurposing is worth?
First you need to learn to grade the book, as value is related directly to condition. Then you can look the book up on bookfinder.com and see what it's worth. But... there's a caveat. There's lots of "script sellers" out there, sellers that don't actually own the book - but which scrape the data, markup the price and offer it for sale, planning to buy it when you do. There's also many utter idiots who will... Source: 11 months ago
  • I’m applying to SJSU for Fall 2024 and I have no idea how I’m going to live out there
If you NEED to purchase a book, use bookfinder.com to find the cheapest books. Always verify the ISBN to make sure you get the correct one edition. Source: 12 months ago

Biblio mentions (17)

  • Is biblio.com trusted for international shipment?
Just happened to find a bargain (lol) and the easiest way to buy this book without redirecting via shipment routers is biblio.com. Source: 5 months ago
  • Don Talbot books
Biblio.com has them...might be a bit hit and miss though. Source: 10 months ago
  • A place to give old cook books to? explanation in comments.
If it’s items like this you could try selling through biblio.com - I collected this whole series through Biblio and paid decent money for some of the rarer ones. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Found an early hardcover copy of The Shining by Stephen King at my local Goodwill. I only paid 25 cents for it because the cashier accidentally rang it up as a paperback.
From biblio.com: "Published in 1977, the first editions published by Doubleday have “First Edition” on the copyright page and R49 code printed on the bottom inside corner of page 447." FWIW, in very good to fine condition, first editions with this dust cover range in price from $750-$6000. Source: about 1 year ago
  • From where do you guys get first edition books?
Biblio.com, ebay, and the occasional lucky used bookstore find. Mostly the first two, though you have to be extra wary you're getting what you think you're getting, ie they didn't just use a catalog picture and the actual item is a more recent/damaged edition. Source: over 1 year ago
