My family rented from a website that id call the airbnb of boats.. boatsetter.com. We got a triple hulled pontoon boat in slidell and that thing hauled ass.. Much more fun than I would have given it credit for and the whole family was able to ride. Been boating the D River for 30 years, you will not find a boat rental place on the river. No operator will send out an inexperienced captain on the river, even if you know what you are doing the river can be tricky, and dangerous if you do not have wheel time. I understand that year-round weather might be important factor for you. But I would still say that the fundament of nomad lifestyle (both historical and current) is following important patterns (of weather, animals, prices, interests...), so whether somewhere one of this factor is stable (year-round) is not so important when you are nomad, as you can harmonise your changing places with the change of these...
