Blockpad is spreadsheet software re-imagined for engineering calculations. It enables engineers to create professional calculation deliverables in an intuitive and familiar way.
The primary interface feels like a traditional word processor, but pressing the equals sign opens up a formula like in a spreadsheet. This formula is then calculated and presented in clear math notation so that the math is readable and not hidden behind a cell. Also like a spreadsheet, these formulas update whenever numbers change.
The formulas also employ many engineering friendly features: - units intelligence - variable names - matrix math - custom functions
The documents themselves are more than just word processors, and include tools that make engineering calculations easier: - spreadsheet-style tables - actual spreadsheets - point snap drawings - solver sections
Also, the various parts of a document can all connect together using spreadsheet-style formulas and references, so that a whole document can update when the numbers change.
Because Blockpad feels like the office and calculation tools you already know, the learning curve can be pretty short. The math is just like spreadsheet math, and the functions are the same too. So it's easy to get started and creating calculation documents you're proud to share.
NimbleText might be a bit more popular than Blockpad.net. We know about 12 links to it since March 2021 and only 9 links to Blockpad.net. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
I don't personally use it, but you might find Blockpad interesting https://blockpad.net/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

I work at Blockpad, and we have a lot of structural engineering customers that love it. It's sort of like Mathcad+Excel, inside of Word. Source: over 1 year ago
For engineers Blockpad (http://blockpad.net) is making a good case for itself as an Excel replacement. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Blockpad (https://blockpad.net) does this but with an engineering orientation. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
It's not a game-changer for me. I like to have it, but I'm also still using tools like NimbleText and thinking about source generators for a lot of stuff. Source: 11 months ago
Writing a program to generate some tedious C# is actually a fine endeavor. I've done it plenty of times! You should also have a look at NimbleText. Then you don't even have to write 80% of the script! Source: 12 months ago
That gets really, really old really, really fast. Every control you write probably has 2-5 of these, and in extreme cases a control might have more than a dozen. I already use the templating tool NimbleText to help with this. It'd be a lot nicer if I could just write a prompt like:. Source: about 1 year ago
That said, if you don't feel like waiting around to see if I actually do the example (I don't always keep these promises), for stuff like this there's a tool called NimbleText I've been using to generate the class for me. There's a free online version that will do the trick and it doesn't take too long to figure out. The main "downside" compared to source generation is you have to copy/paste it yourself. Source: about 1 year ago
NimbleText lets me write a template for one instance of that code, then I can fill in data lines and let it generate the rest. It's kind of like a source generator, only at write-time, not compile-time. It's done more work to make dependency properties palatable than Microsoft ever has. Source: about 1 year ago
