I'd recommend trying this stuff first. Get yourself a wallet, get just a little bit of Bitcoin and start using it. For BCH look at https://bestbchwallets.com/. For BTC there are a lot of options, e.g., https://wallet.mycelium.com/ or https://electrum.org/. Buy something with it or send a little to a friend. Https://wallet.mycelium.com/ is free & has existed for a long time. It would be best to download through your phone's app store, not as a link some random person on reddit links for you. It is easy to use. I am pretty sure all of them are free. Source: over 2 years ago
