  • Reliable/accurate Bible translations?
I, personally, use biblegateway.com where I can see multiple translations side by side to find out, if some translations are tweaked to certain doctrines. Source: 5 months ago
  • I am looking into different bibles to compare and learn from them.
Biblegateway.com is a great resource for doing what you want to do. Source: 5 months ago
  • Online bibles?
I use both Bible.com and biblegateway.com. Both offer more versions than you can think of. Both have apps as well. Source: 5 months ago
  • How do you find specific bible verses when you need them?
Sometimes at tough times I want to go back to a verse my pastor offered but I usually forget which ones later. I can email him but at 1am I just want to find the verse, read it, and contemplate the situation. More likely is that I'm talking with a friend and they have an issue that I know my Pastor had a verse for and I just can't remember it. Sometime I remember enough to search biblegateway.com or bible.com on... Source: 8 months ago
  • Continuing Discussion: If Jewish Mythology is itself derivative, how can Jesus be who He says He is?
Second, the cultural divide. Our society has nothing in common with the societies represented in the Bible other than the rich screwing over the poor. Sexuality was not the same. Masculinity and femininity were not the same. The law and politics were not the same. The languages were so different that we don't even know what they sounded like. Even Ancient Hebrew is educated guesses. I help get around this with my... Source: 10 months ago

The Study Bible mentions (27)

  • How do I read and understand the Bible
A good commentary Bible will help. They will have comments at the bottom of the pages to explain some of the more difficult passages. My two favorites are "The Life Application Bible" (Amazon) and "The John MacArthur Study Bible (gty.org). I own both and they have both helped me a lot in biblical understanding. Source: 5 months ago
  • What kind of bible should I get?
NKJV and ESV are very popular. I would suggest a commentary Bible that will have comments at the bottom of the pages to explain the more difficult passages in the Bible. There are many you can choose from but the only two I am familiar with are "The Life Application Bible" (Amazon) and "The John MacAuthur Study Bible" (gty.org). Both are available in several different translations. Source: 10 months ago
  • Need some advice
Lastly, there are a lot of good preachers that you can listen to on your mobile device or computer. Guys like Adrian Rogers (lwf.org), David Jeremiah (davidjeremiah.org), Jeff Shreve (fromhisheart.org) and John MacAuthur (gty.org). These are pastors that I have been listening to for many years so I know they teach sound biblical truth. Source: 11 months ago
  • Iam scared god has abandoned me
Third, if you are not going to church, then you need to. Sermons from a good Bible teaching preacher can really have an impact on you. I am fortunate to have a really good Bible teaching preacher at my own church but I don't stop there. I listen to other preachers on TV, on the radio, and over the internet during the week. Some of my favorites are David Jeremiah (davidjeremiah.org), Jeff Shreve... Source: 11 months ago
  • Where do I start to move towards Christ?
As already mentioned, there are some good commentary Bibles that will have notes at the bottom of the pages that explain some of the more difficult passages. My two favorites are "The Life Application Bible" (Amazon) and "The John MacAuthur Study Bible" (gty.org). You can also log in and watch sermons on line. I do not want this to replace you going to a local church, I believe fellowship with like-minded... Source: 11 months ago
