The Death of Couchsurfing?
In contrast, BeWelcome, a similar but much less popular platform, covered their finances with less than $10,000. BeWelcome is also completely transparent about their finances.

  • Quel est le bon endroit pour passer 5 semaines et vivre dans la culture française ?
To experience a place there's nothing better than staying with the locals. Have you considered Hospex websites such as CouchSurfing or BeWelcome? Source: 11 months ago

Try the Glasgow group on bewelcome.org - hospitality exchange. There are over 100 hosts in Glasgow. Source: 12 months ago
  • Hi, I am just a guy from Czechia
That's because they built the site with volunteers and then the founders cashed in and now the site is behind a paywall. Better join bewelcome.org, trustroots.org, or couchers.org. Source: over 1 year ago
  • CS keep deleting accounts. Should everyone email them for their data just in case?
You get kicked out for a variety of reasons - mentioning bewelcome.org sharing a whatsapp number and according to a couchers founder, actively volunteering for another planform (allegedly). Source: over 1 year ago
  • German language club
I know what you mean. The town where I went to uni had several language meet ups that were quite a lot of fun. I never looked for German language clubs specifically, but I am sure you'll be able to find some on meetup.com and bewelcome.org. One-on-one meetings sound like a good idea as well, so maybe check out some tandem websites. Source: over 1 year ago

Citymapper mentions (29)

  • The Official MTA App
I live and swear by Citymapper[0] for all cities that it supports. No other app I've used has been as good for public transport as Citymapper has been. I really hope one day one of these city transport organisations either buy it out, push for it, or license their tech. [0] https://citymapper.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 18 days ago
  • WWC Sydney
I’ve had an easy time getting around in Sydney by public transport using Citymapper. Source: 10 months ago
  • Am I weird?
We do! Citymapper often will tell you what door to get on for the best exit, depending on whether there's data available for that journey. Source: 11 months ago
  • Google maps should add a feature for train or bus trips to have your phone vibrate a few stops before yours, thereby allowing you to take a quick nap without worrying about missing it.
Citymapper does this really well. It also tells you where to sit on the train to be nearest the most convenient exit at your stop. Source: 12 months ago
  • DART commuters, how far do you have to walk each day?
But by way of encouragement maybe, the area near my office—off Irving Blvd and Medical District Dr—is not pedestrian friendly by any stretch. Google Maps will give you worthless, even dangerous bike routes. Citymapper is a bit better, but really what I found paid off was spending some time studying maps, aerial and street-level imagery, then a weekend morning doing some testing and exploration.
