I've found betterworldbooks.com - which is an online book [new and used] and dvd seller who use a big chunk of their profits to fund world-wide literacy programs. They also re-cycle books responsibly. Prices are good too and postage is usually included in the price.I've bought several books from them and I'm very happy - I like feeling there's a win/win thing going on here! - Source: Reddit / 24 days ago
I always buy from my local family-owned bookstore when I can - but they don't have much choice - so otherwise I buy from betterworldbooks.com, which is an organisation that puts money into literacy projects worldwide - win win! And their books are usually in good condition and a good price - shipping is included in the cost. - Source: Reddit / 4 days ago
Genuinely think you should read The Obscene Bird of Night by Jose Donoso. Digs into really fucked up Chilean folklore. I think it will check all the boxes you are looking for. You can find a copy on abebooks.com usually. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
If they're not brand new, try Half Price Books! Otherwise I'd suggest Thriftbooks.com , abebooks.com, or Facebook marketplace. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
Not really tbh. The only thing is that when buying stuff online from those sites that have many different sellers (etsy.com, abebooks.com), then I filter out UK because there will be quite some taxes for this parcels. As I try to avoid buying any unnecessary stuff, this does not come up very often though. - Source: Reddit / 28 days ago
Sweet. That's cool you keep an Amazon wish list to remember titles, but if you don't mind buying used books I can't recommend enough abebooks.com. I legit find books published six months ago for less than half the market value including shipping (e.g., Vijay Prashad's "Washington Bullets" published in Feb 2020 is selling for $10 right now). I often get books for as little as $4 for small retailers. Delivery may... - Source: Reddit / 25 days ago
I also check Goodwill all the time and I'll pick up hardcovers of books I'm collecting or ones I've had on my list for a while. They're usually only $2 per hardcover, so you can get lucky sometimes. For older books that I read a while ago but would still like to have a copy of, I use abebooks.com or the "buy used" feature on amazon. Some books I want brand new, but some books I don't mind if they're used. - Source: Reddit / 23 days ago
