I've built Audio Diary (https://audiodiary.ai) which is in a similar space to Obsidian and found this post interesting, but very puritanical. Using funding as a "shortcut" to growth is very important as time is limited (by runway, lifespan, motivation, etc). He even says at the very start that he doesn't expect his app to live forever. Completely agree with the other commentator here—AI apps are lame. Disagree with the article though as I think there are use cases where calling ChatGPT is more than enough. What I did was build an simple old-school type app that aims to be solid and useful, and then add AI to give the user nice features on top of it.
