Hey I would suggest you start looking at the website mobbin.design - It should really help you identify what modern apps are looking like. In addition it allows you to filter screens by the different elements that they contain, which is very useful when you are creating a similiar product. Technical : I started with what I thought was going to be the hardest feature - the animated background. The subtle changing colors remind me of how waves come and go out of view.
