I see minimum wage is $7.25 in the US*; so if you spend even 1 hour of the month configuring and maintaining your sever, you would have been better off cost wise just working a minimum wage job for an hour to cover the server costs for a month; and that's before we factor in energy and... So even at minimum wage, if you spend more than 1 hour per month configuring and maintaining your server you are still coming out at a net loss compared to just working an extra hour per month to cover the costs.
