It's open and can be used by many. It has all the podcast I need. It also powers a lot of open source podcast apps like https://antennapod.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
Open source alternative on Android: Antennapod: https://antennapod.org/ https://antennapod.org/download/ Available on Google Play and FDroid. I switched to it many years ago anticipating this exact Google product shutdown, and I've been very happy with it :). - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
AntennaPod (version 3.2.0): Easy-to-use, flexible and open-source podcast manager and player. Source: 6 months ago
It's amazing how incompetent they seem in this area. They even shut down another podcast app before your journey began, called Google listen. Luckily, although you might want Google's proprietary music player to access their subscription content, there's absolutely no reason to use a Google podcast app. I am a fan of Antennapod[0], which is available on F-Droid. Why anyone would use a proprietary podcasting app is beyond me! (Particularly one from Google with basically had a 100% chance of getting canceled....) https://antennapod.org/ is incredible! 10/10, highly recommend! - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
I recommend 1Blocker. One feature that is rarely mentioned is they can also block some ads in apps and not just Safari, by using a VPN profile which filters trackers locally. https://1blocker.com. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
Hush is one of the extensions on my devices, but both Hush and AdGuard Pro take a back seat to: A) 1Blocker: https://1blocker.com/ B) Orion Browser by Kagi: https://browser.kagi.com/ The first brings all the blocking customisation one needs to MacOS and iOS Safari, the other runs Firefox and Chrome extensions such as uBlock Origin: https://browser.kagi.com/faq.html#extensions. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
You can run 1Blocker[0] on both Mac and iOS. You can also pair it with NextDNS[1] if you want even more blocking. [0] https://1blocker.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
I pay for 1Blocker - though a free version is available (App Store link). Source: about 1 year ago
Any of the ad blockers that install a VPN on your phone, like 1Blocker will block in-app ads. Source: about 1 year ago
