I understand your argument, but actually the best tier list it's from afkarena.net. This kind of tier list destroys characters, you prevent people from playing with them, plus it's totally subjective. I agree this is the most likely case mostly based on what the developers wanted out of Breath of the Wild. They confirmed it was a long time in the future (idr where though, someone else is welcome to help there) so far ahead of whatever timeline it's in that past Zelda games were considered having faded into legend.
