  • Making an Adventure game at work, would love to get peoples opinions on the genre
Obviously I’m committed to the genre since I’m here! I used to follow adventure game developers and fans when I was on twitter. I now lurk on a few discords. Unfortunately the review and news site I’ve relied on since I was a child, Adventure Gamers, is in some funding/ownership flux, but it’s still online. Adventure Game Hotspot was started recently, perhaps to fill a similar space. I also find pretty good... Source: 11 months ago
  • [PC][1997-2003][WALKING SIMULATOR/INTERACTIVE FICTION]
Other details: I am pretty sure this would have been a free download of some kind-not a paid game. It also would have likely been an independent project. I lived on AGS games/Big Blue Cup and adventuregamers.com in those days-playing all those freeware point and click type games...so I probably stumbled across this somewhere around there. I can't even remember the story line-but I assume there had to be one as... Source: 11 months ago
  • Finding it difficult to get good adventure games
Also check out https://adventuregamers.com/ and browse through the reviews, top 10 lists for each year etc and I'm sure you'll find a load of games that pique your interest and are available on Mac. Source: 12 months ago
  • Grim Fandango - does it get better?
I had the same trouble with Grim Fandago which is for some people the best adventure game ever (cf adventuregamers.com). Well sorry I couldn't get into it. It was one of the game that made me realize how much I cared about the scumm style pixel art adventure game. I can't stand 3d in adventure games. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Featured Mod of the Month: Anita Olsen
Anita: I have lifetime access to the subscription-based code-learning website, CodeCombat, where I enjoy learning Python and taking all the Game Development courses offered there. Those games I made were a part of the Game Development 1 and 2 courses (there is also a 3rd course) on CodeCombat. You code the games entirely on your own from scratch by the use of the knowledge you have gathered from the lessons in the... - Source: dev.to / about 1 month ago
  • Screen-free coding for children: the xylophone maze
And https://codecombat.com, which has been around for a while now. I think this paradigm (navigating a character using "move" function invocations) is good but kind of exhausts its usefulness after a while. I question whether my daughter learns coding this way or just is playing a turn based top down platformer. The most code like thing is when you use 'loops' to have characters repeat sequences of moves. I... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • What can I do?
So now, while you have time (yes you have no time now but when you are out of school working with a child and or no summer vacation you will have less time) you can try MIT Scratch or CodeCombat and learn to code. For you it's a long the goal is to make 1 app or a handful of apps in 4 years until you graduate. That's absolutely doable even for someone who knows 0 about coding. Then when you graduate, if you are... Source: 5 months ago

  • And DigTech teachers willing to share?
Https://codecombat.com/ is REALLY good, the free levels have enough content for ~10 weeks for an intro to programming term. Source: 12 months ago
