  • Less known universities for classics
You can check out the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard: https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/. On this site you can search your field of study and the degree level you are seeking to get a list of possible institutions to consider. Source: 10 months ago
  • Need help expanding my college list
Bruh there is nothing good about Texas Tech engineering/cs. Definitely apply to TAMU it is a bit worse than UT for CS, but miles ahead of Texas Tech. TAMU engineering is easy to get into, but requires you to have a 3.8+ College GPA freshman year to be guaranteed the CS major. Use https://collegescorecard.ed.gov since it tells you the average CS salaries for the colleges you're planning to apply to. Source: 11 months ago
  • Median Salaries and Debt Four Years After Graduation
Source: U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard ( College Scorecard | College Scorecard (ed.gov) - After selecting a school, click on "Field of Study", then "See All Available Fields of Study", then "Legal Professions And Studies", then "Law - First Professional Degree". • 🛑🛑Chance me!!! Very Average CS hopeful!!😭😭
Get your scores up and you should be golden for everywhere on your list imo. I would even suggest if your scores go up enough to apply for a few reaches like GT, UIUC, Udub maybe more. When looking up schools cross reference reddit for social life/vibe stuff and outcomes for cs on https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/. Source: 12 months ago
  • Self-selection for T25 schools with low BLFC rates
According to the U.S. Department of Education's CollegeScorecard (https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/), the median salary for UMN law grads four years after graduation was $92,988. This is compared to $164,409 for USC, $154,348 for Vanderbilt, and $131,895 for WashU. Source: 12 months ago
  • I am proud ngl
Idk abt that one, unc cs has ~10k higher avg salary than ncsu on https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/ and just from a random person's pov, I know of unc as a top 5 public school and amazing school for cs but haven't necessarily heard of ncsu in the same regard. Source: 12 months ago
  • RPI Or OSU for cs
Sorry, I should have made it more clear. I was actually refering to the 17k as 17k annually. Its because of the crazy salary difference. Its a question of how you would get that 17k. An extra 40,000$ a year in the salary outlooks is no joke. Thats a big deal. (I got that data from https://collegescorecard.ed.gov . Its a tool made by the US dept of education in tandem with the IRS, so its reliable) Also, try... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Tips from the $120k Offer Guy
Look at the outcomes of a university in salary for CS majors: https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/ or use USNews. If the difference between the universities is really not big; be more careful. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is a hidden gem
It does. According to https://collegescorecard.ed.gov, a piece of software made by the US department of Education in tandem with the IRS, rpi grads have a median salary 4 years out of over 100,000$ (more than gtech, uiuc, any uc school, purdue, etc), and for many majors, the salaries are within top 5 of every school (you can check specific major salaries). • Last minute college decision
UofM is more prestigious and academically rigorous than GVSU for every major which directly impacts your lifetime earnings potential: the median salary of UofM grads 10 years after enrollment is $80k compared to $53k for GVSU grads (https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/). You can major in Computer Engineering or Data Science as an alternative to CS at UofM which have reported median post-grad salaries of $80k and $96k... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Computer Science at Arizona State University
Their outcomes are pretty solid - their CS grads make about as much as those from schools like UMN or Ohio State or UC Irvine. If you have a particular school you want to compare, you can usually find salary outcomes on https://collegescorecard.ed.gov. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Baruch or Villanova
The government site collegescorecard.ed.gov has useful salary data by major to inform decisions. • Discharged loans. 3 years of credit. What degree is worth it?
What degrees = high earnings? I don't see any locally around me that are reported on the https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/ website. Would a high score on an official IQ test do anything for me? How about a high score on an SAT? I did not care much about these things when I was younger but I feel as though I am capable and smart so if there is a way to prove in measurement let me know. Also, maybe I'm not as smart... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Should I go here?
This source has "salary after completing" programs at various universities, https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/ including UF and UVA. It does look like UVA starting salaries are higher. But consider the cost of attendance and the fact that you would probably be able to earn a masters at UF in the same it would take to get an undergrad degree at UVA. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Rose hulman 30k/yr or Purdue 25k/yr
Perhaps it's interesting to know that I went to the US Dept of Education Scorecard today and was surprised to see median CS earnings 3 years post-grad to be $131,382 for Rose and $94,727 for Purdue main campus for computer science majors. Source: about 1 year ago
  • does prestige matter for computer engineering and, if so, how much?
I would suggest looking at salary data on https://collegescorecard.ed.gov where it's broken out by major for pretty much every school with a large program. For some schools it will be reported as electrical engineering, but those should be obvious. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Should I take a full ride or take out student loans?
If you don't go to law school what is the return on investment going to a more prestigious school? Will the increased income-earning potential make up for the increased cost? Since you didn't give us both schools I can't tell you, but you can find out by researching how much you will make with both degrees: https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/. Source: about 1 year ago
