We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about ClrMamePro and what they use it for.
  • Is there a way to rename/organise arcade roms?
Probably need to do it outside of retroarch. Use clrmamepro https://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/. It is a bit cryptic but does the job. There is a guide on the retroarch site about how to use it. Source: 11 months ago
  • How to rebuild old MAME 0.180 set to 0.254?
You can use CLRMAMEPRO to scan your current ROMs and re-build them to target whatever version of MAME you want. Source: 12 months ago
  • Is there a tool to clean up media files like snapshots and cabinets ?
I use ClrMamePro to do the audit, and dat files from Progetto Snaps, which are kept up to dates on a regular basis. You can also download any updates/new files from there as well. Awesome resource. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Organising Games
Dat files are used with certain programs that help you determine if your romset is the correct set. You can use the dat files with programs such as RomCenter or ClrMAMEPro. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Mame rom pack.
I've seen some few super neurotic folks that download non-merged* sets and pick them apart, but most people just d/l the full set and a program like clrmamepro to trim the bulk of the roms off, since it changes so often that it's not worth cherry-picking them by hand. Using one of these programs is a snap, as they can curate a ROM list in a relatively small amount of time. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How do I identify my romset?
There are applications called ROM managers, that you can point at your ROM collection and have them sort through and figure out which ROMs are good for a given version of MAME. Romcenter is one, CLRMAMEPro is another. You'll also need a DAT file, which is just a list of ROM names, sizes and checksums, so that your ROM manager knows which ROMs are valid for what version of MAME. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Newbie Question on versions and extras
Someone compiled a pack/set good for some specific mame version, witch means, if you scan that romset with clrmamepro and using mame own xml file for that specific version as a DAT file (you can either generate your own with mame -lx > mame.xml or download the mame0VERSIONlx.zip from the mame official release page) for example, when clrmamepro is done scanning the whole thing, you'll see 0 (zero) roms missing.... • Filtering down 1,000s of games to just the ones that you want based on your own criteria
I like to build scripts myself to do different things, however, there is a ROM tool called Clrmamepro, from that site you can export your list either as mame (xml) or clrmamepro (dat), load that file into Clrmamepro, define your rompath and click at the Rebuilder button. Use the source as your current mame rom path and destination as your new one and click rebuild, in the end you'll have your romset the way you want. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Help with clrmamepro please
Documentation is nonexistent. On https://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/ is the following text:. Source: over 1 year ago
  • 0.244 CHD Link takes you to 0.225?
I use clrmamepro ( https://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/ ) but can be very overwhelming for the first time, but probably ROMvault ( https://www.romvault.com/ ) it's a more user-friendly alternative. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Can someone help me to get "Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros" up and running?
Run mame with -verifyroms it will tell you what you are missing or you can use a tool like clrmamepro in conjunction with the mame executable to audit your roms for the version of mame you are trying to run. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Mame Zip file name > Actual Title Name
I use CLRMAMEPRO to catalog everything. Never got as far as getting the DAT exported and converted to a CSV (because I don't really care that much) but it will display the full name of the game, developer, year, version, etc. Source: about 2 years ago
  • MAME GUI with a custom rom set
Once you decide what to do and came up with the list of games you want, use mame to export the list as xml, download and open Clrmamepro, drag and drop the generated xml into Clrmamepro and when ready, click at "rebuilder", as source use your mame rom folder, as for destination choose a different folder and click rebuild. • Built Full Non-merged 0.235 ROM Set with ClrMamePro, missing devices and samples?
Try to update the clrmamepro to the latest version to see if it fixes the issue: https://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/. Source: over 2 years ago
