I live and swear by Citymapper[0] for all cities that it supports. No other app I've used has been as good for public transport as Citymapper has been. I really hope one day one of these city transport organisations either buy it out, push for it, or license their tech. [0] https://citymapper.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 7 days ago
I’ve had an easy time getting around in Sydney by public transport using Citymapper. Source: 10 months ago
We do! Citymapper often will tell you what door to get on for the best exit, depending on whether there's data available for that journey. Source: 10 months ago
Citymapper does this really well. It also tells you where to sit on the train to be nearest the most convenient exit at your stop. Source: 12 months ago
But by way of encouragement maybe, the area near my office—off Irving Blvd and Medical District Dr—is not pedestrian friendly by any stretch. Google Maps will give you worthless, even dangerous bike routes. Citymapper is a bit better, but really what I found paid off was spending some time studying maps, aerial and street-level imagery, then a weekend morning doing some testing and exploration. Depending on the city you might be able to use citymapper. But like the others here I suspect that the main problem is that the city you're in just plain sucks, and at that point, cabs might be the best option for us without a George Jetson style folding car in our pocket. Source: about 1 year ago
Fortunately, to answer your question, yes, there are apps to help you. Citymapper is a recommendation by many for its quality and accuracy in information. The official journey planner of ÎdFM is also worth trying: it will even break down your fare into the different ticket types and prices required to make the trip. Source: about 1 year ago
I like https://citymapper.com/. Good presentation of info. Source: about 1 year ago
And, use the Citymapper app. I find it more usable than the RATP or SNCF applications. Source: about 1 year ago
Millions of people use the subway each day as their sole means of transportation. Download https://citymapper.com/ and it tells you exactly what to do. Otherwise, have fun. Source: over 1 year ago
Surprised no one has mentioned https://citymapper.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
Seconding u/Zoroasker; Citymapper is a great travel app for within cities and covers all public transport within London, Edinburgh/Glasgow and more. Trainline is a good option for rail travel between cities and probably your best bet for travelling around within the UK. Domestic flights can sometimes be cheaper than trains though airports are a bit unpredictable at the moment. Source: over 1 year ago
Citymapper is usually very helpful for deobfuscating such things. Source: over 1 year ago
If you're in an urban area, CityMapper's bike directions are really good. Source: almost 2 years ago

I'm a sucker for good little microinteractions. The author's checkbox may not be one of those, as it seems a bit overdone, but I'd have to try it to be sure. It's really easy to go too far. But, some other examples that I love: • https://www.joshwcomeau.com/animation/3d-button The red "push me" button that is the focus of the article is great—but even better, check out the sun/moon icon near the top left. •... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
Depending on where exactly your workplace is, Berlin Hauptbahnhof may not be the best station for you. Also check the other, closer train stations. I like Citymapper, but you can also try the apps from BVG, VBB or Deutsche Bahn. Source: almost 2 years ago
Citymapper is best when you're new and still trying to figure out, at any given random time, the best way to get from Point A to Point B. It's what I use whenever I'm a tourist in NYC (or any other city with good transit) and it's what I used when I first started commuting by bus. Source: almost 2 years ago
Https://citymapper.com/ is a very good app in general, and is really good to find safe routes for cycling. Source: almost 2 years ago
The only thing I’d add is that if you’re going to a city that uses the Citymapper app, use it! It was a total gift from the gods when I went to London a few years ago. Source: about 2 years ago
Use an app called citymapper.com, great for showing you your transport options. Source: about 2 years ago
