  I use an online tool called chordchord.com - I get to play as much as I like, experimenting with chord progressions. When I hear something I like, I write down the chords and notes and then key these into my composing software or directly into FL Studio. This tool has made my life easier with creating songs.   You don't need to know that much about music theory to start just learn like what chords are. You can use chordchord.com to generate chord progressions for you and just hum and sing over the progressions until u are happy. I have a ton of songs on my recorder app on my phone.
