  • Charities are a scam (it took mrbeast to build dozens of wells in Africa)
Someone doesn't know how to use charitynavigator.org. Source: 6 months ago
  • Common Bible Belt W
You might also check http://charitynavigator.org . They do a good job of evaluating charities in terms of how they spend the funds they collect and how effective they are. Source: 11 months ago

  • Am I in the wrong? Preschool tax benefits
At least confirm on charitynavigator.org that had at some point filed for a tax exemption. You can look up using https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/ to see how recently they filed a tax return. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Would you like to help with the migrant and refugee influx and also potentially earn some holiday dollars?
******** the end of their note ******* My commentary: I share this in the spirit of connecting those who can help with those who need it. Not every charity or organization listed may be for you and that's ok. Not everything is for everyone. If you are contributing money please always consider checking charitynavigator.org before donating. But what about (instert my cause here)? This is not to say any one cause... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Should wealthy christians feel obligated to give more to ministry than poor christians? If so, why? Is it freeloading or encouraging laziness?
You can research charities at Charity Navigator, charitynavigator.org. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What company will you never give your money to?
You can look up the Salary of Key Persons at charitynavigator.org. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What’s your income and what’s your savings rate?
Not the person you asked, but I like charitynavigator.org for picking where to donate. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I hate taking showers
Alaffia also puts some of their profit towards aid work in Africa. Wasn't a goal of mine to support that but it's nice that it's part of it. I tried to look up their foundation in give.org and charitynavigator.org and they're not in the latter and in the former they haven't been evaluated. Source: over 1 year ago
  • TYRO CHARITY CUP 2 Will Be Live this Weekend!
The Tyro Community is raising money for Charity! The top 3 teams will play to donate the prize pool to their org of choice: 50% for 1st, 30% for 2nd &, 20% for 3rd. Eligible charities can be found here: https://charitynavigator.org. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Just got an email from HR saying we can now "conveniently" deduct money from our paychecks to donate to United Way! This is my response.
Https://charitynavigator.org is pretty good for exactly this. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Which charities do the most good?
The website http://charitynavigator.org shows you reports on charities, including how they spend their money (e.g., fundraising, CEO salary, or actual programs). Look up a charity you’re interested in, and they’ll list other similar ones too. Source: over 1 year ago
  • If you're pro-life, then actually do something to help kids. A lot of people abort because they have ZERO support system. Start a charity, provide welfare and assistance. Do ANYTHING. It's kind of sick to watch people care about a fetus, but not about an actual baby.
Charity Navigator is a wonderful tool for vetting charities. My favorites are Direct Relief and American Refugee Committee. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Children Medical Support Fundraising Scams???
Try http://charitynavigator.org to find good charities, and their actual websites. Source: about 2 years ago
  • technically the truth
Charitynavigator.org is what you're looking for. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Ukraine war: Russian troops open fire on protesters in Kherson
That's why things like charitynavigator.org exist. They vet the charities on a variety of criteria, though since a number of new ones have sprung up since the invasion you just have to use your best judgement or stick with the existing ones with good ratings. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Favorite Christian Charities
What a good thought! You can always look up charities at charitynavigator.org, which rates charities based on things like their finances, accountability, and transparency. Source: about 2 years ago
  • TIL that in addition to Red Cross organizations, there are also Red Crescent and Red Crystal organizations, with the symbols localized for acceptance by the community of each nation that has such an organization. In the past there was also a Red Lion and Sun (Iran).
That isn't true. You need to learn how to do accurate research in terms of non-profits. You can look all of this information up on charitynavigator.org or charitywatch.org. You should absolutely know how your donations are being used and be confident in your donations, but you should not get your information from internet memes and then continue to spread blatantly inaccurate information. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Instagram donations campaign for Ukraine. Legit or scam
You can and should check out any charity by going to charitynavigator.org. I give as much as possible to animal saving charities, but I refuse to give to the ASPCA, despite how many gut-wrenching commercials they manage to put in front of my face. They spend like a quarter of what they take in on more commercials. I wouldn’t know that but for sites like charitynavigator. Source: about 2 years ago
  • What is the most unethical, but legal, way to get rich quick?
In the US, any organization that seeks to be exempt has fixed reporting requirements that outline where they get their money and how they spend it. Then sites like Charity Navigator aggregate and score them on their expense ratio and filing habits. Of course you can search the IRS website yourself as the documents are required to be public. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Foreign aid payments to highly aid-dependent countries coincide with sharp increases in bank deposits to offshore financial centers. Around 7.5% of aid appears to be captured by local elites.
Charitywatch.org or charitynavigator.org (for canadians) gives reliable info of charities so you know who are more likely scammers or not. Source: over 2 years ago
