Carista. It’s an OBD2 plugin, $40 with a free month of access, which is all you need to customize all that kind of stuff.https://caristaapp.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
Yes, using an OBD2 tool like Carista (or others). This is by far the best mod I’ve made to my truck. Source: about 1 year ago
Carista is one of the companies that sells 3rd party programming modules. Source: about 1 year ago
I don't remember if either of those are an option -- I believe mine is supposed to beep, but I've noticed one of mine has quit beeping when I leave the keys inside, so maybe I should check, but a paid subscription or the free trial of expanded options from the Carista reader/app does give you more control of the beeps and door locks than a regular OBD2 reader. I personally like my Carista because it's optimized for Toyotas and Prii, so it reads a bunch of ECUs the other readers don't see, but there are less expensive models available via Prime. The Dr Prius website has a page comparing several models, which they supplement by linking to the Hybrid Assistant site. Source: over 1 year ago
You can turn it off, I did, you just need a ODB2 writer (I used Carista ). Source: over 1 year ago
I like my Carista. While not the cheapest of the lot, it is optimized for Prii and Toyotas. Source: over 1 year ago
You really should invest in a code reader. I like the Carista because it is optimized for Toyotas, but there are other, less expensive readers with fewer features. The Dr Prius app's website has a page listing several Bluetooth readers, which they link to a page from the Hybrid Assistant app. Source: over 1 year ago
Karma, Quantum Mechanics, and Autohaus are some other options for you. If you're at all handy the things you mentioned could be done with a couple hand tools. You can also buy some basic diagnostics OBDII connectors and use software like OBDEleven or Carista. Source: over 1 year ago
I used Carista. They have a OBD II reader and app that has an option to switch it to one beep. I did that in my 2011 Prius. It’s $29.99. https://caristaapp.com. Source: over 1 year ago
I like the Carista. It is specially-formulated for Toyotas and several other makes of cars. The regular OBD2 scanner software is free with the reader and because it makes a distinction between "pending" and "confirmed" errors, I'd call it enhanced for the Prius. Source: over 1 year ago
Tacking on, here... it's not the cheapest, but the Carista reader speaks Prius and Toyota. Source: over 1 year ago
Regarding scan tools. There are cheaper, and more user friendly options, than VCDS. The most popular ones are OBDEleven, Carista, and Carly. Generally, any of those three alternatives would cost you on average as much as one-hour visit to the mechanic. Source: almost 2 years ago
Like u/wdcpdq, I have the Carista and highly recommend it because it speaks Toyota, but I bought mine back when you could get it with Prime from Amazon and your car is an '07, so the fancy reader may not be as useful. Source: almost 2 years ago
Carista will let you turn off the beeping noise as well as tweak several other "dealer only" settings. I have disabled the seatbelt beep on mine. Source: almost 2 years ago
Https://caristaapp.com/ -- $30 OBD port connector and bluetooth to your phone. Theres quite a few options you can mess with. Another one I tweaked was hold the unlock button to open your windows. Im sure your friends scan tool could probably do the same if you want to try that route first. Source: almost 2 years ago
I've got an OBDLink MX+, which I use with Carista, but it's been a while since I've taken a look. Source: about 2 years ago
I use and recommend the Carista. It is programmed with added features specific to some lines of cars, such as Toyota and Prius. Some people frown upon it because once you get very deep in the Prius-specific readings -- my usual example is the rear passenger seat power window control -- you need the added features free trial or a paid subscription and that is also true if you want to change things like whether the... The website for the app has a list of recommended readers and at the end of their list, they also suggest looking at the HybridAssistant app for a list of more. I have a Carista, but there are many others on the two lists at different price points. Source: over 2 years ago
Of course, we also got the message when the regular (engine) coolant pump started failing. The first time it went away on a restart, but it left a code that I could see with my Carista code reader and I was able to clear it when it reoccurred before I replaced the coolant pump.
