I've been using the open source Beeftext very successfully. Works across windows, so not cross platform like espanso, but a little bit more user friendly. Able to drop in entire templates with formatting. https://beeftext.org/. Source: over 1 year ago
Beeftext (free) which someone reviewed as being a replacement for Apple text replacement, AutoText (free to use),. Source: over 1 year ago

I came across this non vegan app lol, called https://beeftext.org/ which is a text expander and you can save your replies to reuse over and over. Source: over 1 year ago
You could use a text expander like Beeftext or Espanso so that typing something like :ee will replace it with Interviewee and :er will replace it with Interviewer. Source: almost 2 years ago
Beeftext is an open-source text substitution/expansion tool for Windows that saves you the trouble of repeatedly typing the same text strings over and over. Set up all your frequently used text snippets, and you'll never have to type them out fully again. Thanks for suggesting this one goes to Thecrawsome. Source: about 2 years ago

I use a text expander when I which works mostly fine if you remember the keyboard combos. I use https://beeftext.org/ on windows but there are many alternatives. Most have also a variable scheme to autofill names and stuff. Source: over 2 years ago
Beeftext is a simple but equally useful open-source tool. I'd award it 5 keystrokes out of a possible 47. https://beeftext.org/. Source: over 2 years ago
I use BeefText as my system-wide text expander. It might not be quite the same as what you're talking about, but you can set key words that auto expand into sentences or paragraphs. I give it bonus points for also being able to set it up as an autocorrect type of thing. So I can "expand" patinet to patient since I spell it wrong at least a dozen times a day. If you are on Windows and you are considering a text expander, might I suggest BeefText? It is free, open source and really simple. It has some variables for date and time, cursor placement (for example I have a combo called :b which expands to "" with the cursor between the brackets, so I can type what I want in bold) and can even perform some keystrokes. On Windows, you'll have to install a text expansion app. Thankfully, in 2022, we have a couple of free, open source apps to choose from. The best are Espanso and Beeftext. Source: over 2 years ago
At the beginning of that video, you'll notice a command to start Postgres. It's needed only if you use Postgres as your database, and you only need to start it once after you boot your machine. I made it quicker to type with a text expander (https://beeftext.org). Source: almost 3 years ago
Not really a snippet extension but what about a text expander such as the great BeefText ? I'm using it on a daily basis and found it really usefull. Source: about 3 years ago
