  • Need help on expanding my snow peak setup
Https://bakingsteel.com is in my home kitchen, but very heavy and rarely gets used as a griddle, pretty much relegated to keeping the oven temp stable. Big cast iron pan gets used more often, or sheet pan bacon at home. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Gifts for husband who cooks
They’re like baking stones but stainless steel. It conducts heat much better than a stone. Here’s the first company to produce them— I backed them On Kickstarter so I’m partial— but there are many others now. https://bakingsteel.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Has anyone moded there weber to a flattop looking for pointer and Ideas
I went deep on smash burgers last summer using a Baking Steel pizza steel (I have what used to be called "The Big" model). This worked great, but I needed more surface area. I've switched to a Steel Made outdoor grill flat top insert and I've been very happy. This is on a 2005 Weber Genesis Platinum C. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • New carbon steel tool for pizza and whatever.
Buy the same thing from bakingsteel.com Have one, love it. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Week 9: Unusual Ingredients- Jalepeño Popper Pizza with Grape Jelly and Buffalo Chicken & Ranch Pizza
Okay so my all time favorite pizza place is called SliceWorks and the nearest one is like a 45-60 minute drive for me :( so I decided to make my two favorite pizza options from there: jalepeño popper with grape jelly and buffalo chicken! The weird ingredient is for sure the grape jelly, you would never in a million years expect it to be good- I tried it for the first time thinking I was gonna puke but it ended up... I am personally wanting Baking Steel - https://bakingsteel.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Pizza Steel vs Stone
I have the steel in my 2S, it’s definitely an upgrade from a stone. Temperature retention is amazing. I got mine from: https://bakingsteel.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • I finally mustered the courage to use my baking steel!
They come in different shapes and sizes. Check out baking steel website. . In a comment above someone linked to one on Amazon that was a very reasonable price. Source: over 2 years ago
  • How to prepare a mild (carbon?) steel sheet for it to become food safe? DIY project for baking/pizza steel
Yeah they cost stupid money for me at least.. If you look at bakingsteel.com they cost around $200.. I wouldn't spend that on a piece of steel.. For what they are I think they're overpriced but I get it that a lot people buy them and swear by them. Also I don't want to use it like a baking steel per se.. I might do one day but I mostly want it to be a non-bending tray to sit directly under the grill. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Pizza stone question
Strongly recommend a baking steel as u/TotalStatisticNoob recommends. I have three, including one that can fit over two burners on a gas stove and has a drain slot around it. Cook bacon, pancakes, etc., on it, really cool. My oven steel immediately and dramatically improved my pizza making the first time. Wasn't cheap so I saved up and it's worth it. I got mine from here. • Foolproof Pan Pizza Question
Might see if swapping the pizza stone out for a Baking Steel to see if the extra impact of cooking on hunk of metal makes a difference. Playing a bit on what /u/BikeOhio suggested about location in the oven you could try the steel on the floor/bottom of the oven vs having it up closer to the broiler; but once heated, I don't move my steel - something about trying to pull something that big, heavy and hot out of... • Cast Iron or baking steel for griddle?
I believe so. I think Baking Steel is a brand name, and their products are made of carbon steel. At least I would hope so, as stainless steel has even worse conductivity than carbon steel, which is why stainless steel pans are almost always aluminum core clad in steel. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Pizza Stone or Steel Plate?
I love my Baking Steel. Super easy maintenance, works great, and the difference of cooking on a steel vs stone is noticeable in my opinion. Source: about 3 years ago
  • [Homemade] Pepperoni & Jalapeno Pizza
These guys are the only ones I know of that have the "reversible griddle" and they're pretty well regarded; though I've seen a fair number of baking steels without the added grease channel. Source: about 3 years ago
