MacroDroid is the one that's easiest to use, among the powerful ones. Tasker has more power for detailed functions but the interface is hell. Or, if you want free, I always suggest Automagic, from automagic4android.com. It has the best interface and is more powerful than MacroDroid, but the dev gave up on it and decided to give it away. If you try that, you'll have to use version 1.37 (unless you're using android... - Source: Reddit / 7 days ago
MD has a free version limited to 5 macros, with unobtrusive ads. If you want free, then try Automagic, free from automagic4android.com as abandonware, but you'll have to use version 1.37 if you're using Android 12 or above. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
Automagic is still available from the website, for free. automagic4android.com. If you have android 12 or 13, you will need to get version 1.37, not the latest one. Thanks to goolag. - Source: Reddit / about 2 months ago
One more thing: If you don't use them already, you might look into some automation apps. My top rec. For new users is MacroDroid. It's basically straightforward scripting, and easy to learn. Some people hate the idea of trackers, and MD has quite a few, because the base version is free. Tasker is also scripting but the interface was very badly designed and it's more complex, and seems to have more quirks (like you... - Source: Reddit / about 2 months ago
If it were me, I'd install Automagic (free now from automagic4android.com) and use the overlay feature available in the "Control UI" action, and see if those things are something that can perform functions. You might be able to figure out what app it's from by that. You may have to enable extra permissions for it using ADB in order for that to work, but there are tutorials for that all over the place, and it's... - Source: Reddit / 2 months ago
I also have Tasker, I learned how to use it eventually... ... ...and the interface is so irritating that I never use it anyway. My favorite app of all time is Automagic. I still use that and haven't yet translated all of my automations to MD. To me, Automagic is still the best. Easy to use, almost as powerful as Tasker and the interface is really, REALLY well-designed and makes troubleshooting easy since you can... - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago
There's a free automation app (used to be paid on Google Play) that has a step count trigger. You could define a custom script in it that would do whatever you want. You can get it from automagic4android.com. If you are on Android 12 or above, you will have to use version 1.37. - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago
Automagic (free from automagic4android.com) can put a full-screen transparent widget over the screen. You'd have to have some way to stop the script though, so make sure you also make one that will stop the widget script with a shake of the phone or something. - Source: Reddit / 4 months ago
Automagic is an automation app that you can get free from automagic4android.com, as it's no longer in development. It has no trackers and is intuitive and easy to learn. You can turn off regular ring notifications and use Automagic to define a default ring, custom vibrations for different callers, different ring tones for callers, and of course no sound/vibration for unwanted numbers. If you're running Android 12... - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago
Automagic, automation for android. The interface is the best of any automation app I've ever seen. It's no longer in development, but the dev made it free from his website (automagic4android.com) . Give it a look. That app deserves to live. Automate is a new "flowchart-based automation" app, but the interface absolutely sucks in comparison, and the way they handle variables is strange and horrible. - Source: Reddit / 7 months ago
Automagic can be used to make custom widgets. It's no longer in development but still works fine, and has a very gentle learning curve. It's free from automagic4android.com. - Source: Reddit / 12 months ago
iPhone is on another level yet with restrictions. I'm an automation hobbyist; I like to make my phone do things I would otherwise do manually. Iphone quite simply doesn't have anywhere near the power in automation apps that Android has. If you haven't looked into automation, I'd suggest MacroDroid as a starting point. If you understand flowcharts, I'd recommend Automagic (free from automagic4android.com), which is... - Source: Reddit / 12 months ago
I always use Automagic (a different and easier-to-use automation app, free from automagic4android.com), thus my uncertainty about this, along with the fact that my only Android 12 device is a tablet, not a phone. I will look into it in any case to see if this setting might be easily found. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
I'm using Automagic to view, search and change the system settings. MacroDroid can change them but not search. Tasker can probably do this too, but it is a royal pain in the arse to learn and to use. If you want to try Automagic, it's free from automagic4android.com. How you can determine the MAC addresses of devices I'm not sure, but there is almost certainly an app that will do it. The bluetooth settings... - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
Automagic, one of the best automation apps ever, free from automagic4android.com. It's flowchart-based automation, with an interface that is so far beyond anything similar that it's amazing. Was on Play Store until 2020, but the dev gave up development and just made it free. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
If nothing else becomes available, you can get Automagic free from automagic4android.com and make your own progress bar widget. It's a powerful automation tool but the interface is very user-friendly. Here's a link to a progress bar widget example which you should be able to modify to fit your needs without much work. https://automagic4android.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8715&p=28232&hilit=progress+bar#p28232. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
For me it's automation apps. Android gives you pretty near total control over your phone, and automation is darn good, clean fun. (Try Automagic - free from automagic4android.com - or MacroDroid if you don't need as much power and want an app that's still in development.). - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
Oh yeah, I forgot that. In that case...I would get Automagic (free from automagic4android.com) and make a "flow" (it's flowchart-based automation) with "System setting changed" as the trigger, and have it watch Global > auto-time. When it changes to "1", have the flow set it back to "0" automatically, and hopefully the change will happen before the time zone update occurs. If not, you can at least have it give you... - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
I'd recommend MacroDroid (which has a free version) or Automagic (free from automagic4android.com) before Tasker. Tasker's learning curve is huge, and it has an absolutely horrible interface. MD will take photos every few seconds and the interface is incredibly simple. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
It's not in development since the end of 2020, but still works fine. Free from automagic4android.com. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
Get a good automation app (MacroDroid has a free version, Automagic (automagic4android.com) is free and more powerful but not quite as simple), disable notification sounds, and use the automation app to make custom notification sounds & vibrations for each app or even each sender in the app. Note that MD doesn't actually have custom vibrations, but it has a variety. In Automagic you can freely define vibration... - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
